🔬 Confirmed🟢 Beginner⏱ 30 Minutes✓ Observation from Experience
Observed: Attempts to send outbound email via SMTP from a PHP script on Managed WordPress hosting failed. Confirmed with support that port 587 is blocked at the server/firewall level.
Confirmed cause: Managed WordPress intentionally blocks outbound SMTP to prevent spam abuse on shared infrastructure.
Resolution: Use a third-party form service (Web3Forms) for contact form submissions. Do not attempt server-side email sending from this hosting tier — it will not work regardless of SMTP credentials or plugin configuration.
Generalized lesson: Managed WordPress is not suitable for server-side email workflows. Web3Forms, SendGrid, or similar API-based services are the correct alternative.
