The symptom
A visitor scanning the homepage in browser DevTools noticed a section between the FAQ area and the footer using a slightly different near-black background color than the section directly above it — two very close but technically different shades, subtle enough to not be obviously wrong at a glance, but visible once compared side by side.

Initial assumption
Given the section’s content (mascot imagery, brand copy) and its position several sections above another block that referenced templates, the first instinct was that a “Templates” section might somehow be rendering twice, or stretching further down the page than intended.

Investigation
DevTools showed the mismatched section was a native block with the HTML anchor name that had nothing to do with its actual content, which was a closing brand block (motto, social icons, sign-off copy), not a templates showcase.
 
Checking the actual templates-related source file confirmed it had no matching ID, no absolute/fixed positioning, and no styling that could cause it to bleed into or duplicate elsewhere on the page. The two sections were entirely unrelated blocks that happened to share a coincidental, misleading name.

What to check
When a section’s background or styling doesn’t match its neighbors and the cause isn’t obvious from the visible content:
 
1. Use DevTools/List View to identify the exact block responsible, not just the visual area.
2. Check the block’s HTML anchor name — a leftover or copy-pasted anchor from an earlier, unrelated block is a common source of confusion, especially in page builders where blocks get duplicated and repurposed over time.
3. Confirm the anchor name actually matches the block’s current content before assuming a naming clue points to the real cause.
4. Compare the specific background color value (not just “looks dark”) between the two sections — near-identical hex values are easy to mistake for a copy/paste of the same style, when they’re actually two separate values that happened to land close to each other.

Current finding
The mismatch was traced to a Group block with background color `#111111` sitting next to a section using `#0b0c10` — visually close enough that the anchor name being wrong was the more useful early debugging clue.
 
The final fix was applied directly in the block editor’s color picker; the specific edit that resolved it was not captured, since the change was made through direct clicking in the visual editor rather than a code-level change.

Troubleshooting lesson
A confusing or unrelated-sounding HTML anchor name is itself a useful signal — it often means a block was duplicated or repurposed from something else and never renamed, which is worth checking before assuming a rendering or layout bug.
